Why volumizing-style dermal fillers?
As we grow older, we lose some of our facial volume, leading to flatter cheeks and sagging skin. Some individuals may also seek to enhance the features of their face to address genetically determined features or to achieve personal aesthetic goals. Volumizing-style dermal fillers are used to add volume to the cheeks. Dermal fillers made from flexible gels provide suitable support when the face is both at rest and moving.

The treatment
Treatment with a volumizing-style dermal filler typically takes
15-45 minutes, depending on the area being treated. In some cases, a touch-up treatment about two weeks after the initial treatment may be recommended to optimize results. Some dermal fillers contain a local anaesthetic that can reduce discomfort during treatment.
Immediately after a lip volume fillers treatment, patients may experience some post-treatment side effects, including redness, swelling, pain, bruising or tenderness at the treatment site. These side effects usually disappear within one week after injection. Though fillers are minimally invasive, they still carry some risks. Serious side effects, such as blood vessel occlusion, can occur. Before the treatment, you should discuss the possible risks and benefits with your healthcare practitioner.
Dermal fillers are medical devices that are classified for professional use only and must be administered by qualified healthcare practitioners.
Treatments with volumizing-style dermal fillers can last from up to 12-18 months, depending on the part of the face treated. Results may vary depending on the treatment area, the product selected and the characteristics of the individual.
The science behind
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a substance that has a unique ability to bind water. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in our bodies and in all layers of our skin. It keeps our body tissues soft, hydrated and flexible. However, as we age, the body’s ability to produce hyaluronic acid lessens, leading to dry and thinner skin and loss of youthful volume.
Native hyaluronic acid in the body degrades quickly, in one to two days. To make the hyaluronic acid last longer, Galderma has used stabilization technologies that delay degradation.
HA dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid gels that is soft but yet firm enough to retain volume and shape in for example the cheeks and lips.
